Postmodernism - V&A

Went to a Postmodernism exhibition at the V&A last week. Well worth a visit! Here are two examples of things I found particularly interesting:

Once you have flown, your eyes will ever gaze skyward. For once you have been there … There you will go again!”
- Leonardo da Vinci

Final Laser Cut Collection 2: Cut from 3mm Acrylic

Very pleased with the material choice for this collection, also wall pieces

2 designs are shown as illustrator files as had limited time and only managed to cut out 2 designs in Acrylic

Laser Cut Final Collection 1: Made from Card and Acetate

These are wall pieces that would be in repeat to cover the length of a wall

Market Research - Art Signs Interiors

When doing market research for my laser cutting project I would say Art Signs Interiors where the biggest influence on my final collections. Their pieces are often used in hotels and sales centres. I looked at their wall and installation pieces. I liked that their bold pieces would transform a room.

Hanna Werning

Came across this in a fantastic book: Textile Designers at the Cutting Edge. The composition is very carefully thought, making the motifs go together well.

Katie Heeks

When working on my latest project: a laser cutting project, I looked at Katie Heeks work. I really like the build up of layers she creates and this is something I wanted to do within my own work.

Johan Carpner

Love the boldness of Johan Carpners work, always a fan of black and white! Strong graphic influence in her work. This piece makes you feel like you are looking through a forest in to the trees.
